OPTICAL PUMPING AND CHEMICAL REACTIONS.

Abstract

An optical pumping apparatus was constructed for rubidium atoms. Measurements of the rubidium spin relaxation time have been made and a theory developed of the relaxation process. Preliminary experiments on the kinetics of photolyses were unsuccessful because of the unexpectedly great reactivity of the photosensitive molecules with rubidium. (Author)
