Abstract

This document reports the results of an availability analysis of nuclear and conventional steam power plants proposed for NIKE-X missile bases. The general concept of availability is explained and discussed. The report also explains the method used to analyze the availability of a number of nuclear and conventional steam plants. Calculated values are given with respect to the power requirements of the NIKE-X system. Recommendations for further studies are also included. (Author)
