WIRE CABLES FOR OCEANOGRAPHIC OPERATIONS

Abstract

Extensive tests were conducted on 14 cables, now in general use for marine operations, to determine their resistance to elastic and rotational stretch. The 3 x 19 cable was found to have characteristics that would favor its use for sensitive oceanographic problems when compared with the other cables tested.
