STRUCTURAL PLASTICS FOR DEEP SUBMERGENCE VEHICLES.

Abstract

Work efforts in progress to find a simple and inexpensive means of developing failure modes under compression in small, easily observed, glass reinforced plastic specimens are reported. From these failures a study will be made of the crack mechanism with emphasis on local buckling and shear. The preparation fiberglass/epoxy test specimens and test equipment are described.
