THE MEASUREMENT OF HIGH ALTITUDE WIND VELOCITIES FROM VAPOUR RELEASES. II,

Abstract

A digital computer method is described for determining accurately and quickly the position in space of either a luminous vapour trail or a small luminous vapour cloud. The position is found by analysing data from photographs of the object and of the star field from at least two camera positions. A correction is included to take account of the curvature of the Earth's surface. (Author)
