DEVELOPMENT OF ONFLAMMABLE HYDRAULIC FLUIDS AND LUBRACANTS.

Abstract

Additional trimeric and tetrameric maxed substituted (aryl-1-di ;-polyfluoroalkyl) phosphonitrilates were prepared and evaluated. These products have generally lower viscosities and densities than the corresponding aryl-1, 1, omega-tri H-polyfluoroalkyl phosphonitrilates. Spontaneous ignition temperatures are high and the thermal stabilities of th trameric and, especially, of the tetrameric pjoducts are considerably better than in the aryl-tri H-polyfluoroalkyl series. TKHE BEST OVER-ALL PROPERTIES WERE OBSERVED FOR TETRAMERIC PRODUCTS SUBSTITUTED BY TRIFLUOROETHOXY AND M-CHLORO- OR M-FLUORPHENOXY GROUPS. Experiments aimed at preparing water sluble phosphonitrilates and experiments designed to lik two phosphoitrile rings by means of diph nolethers or fluorinated .lycols have been initiated. (Author)
