CALCULATION OF THE TRANSFORMATION MATRIX FOR A CYCLOTRON FRINGE FIELD,

Abstract

A Fortran program for the IBM 7090 computer has been written to calculate the optical effect of a cyclotron's fringing field on an extracted negative ion beam. The program is discussed in terms of the first order ion optic theory of S. Penner and applied to the UCLA 50 MeV cyclotron. The program is also applicable to an extracted positive beam. (Author)
