MATH MODEL OF GRAVITY TORQUES AND INTERNAL TORQUES CAUSED BY GYROS AND INERTIA WHEELS ON AN EARTH-POINTING ORBITING VEHICLE,

Abstract

The math model is presented for simulation purposes of an earth-pointing-orbiting vehicle. The gravity torques on the vehicle are derived as a function of the geometrical mass distribution matrix - that is, the vehicle inertia matrix, and the orientation of body principal axes with respect to local vertical. Torques on the vehicle due to internal rotating devices such as gyros, flywheels, etc., are also discussed. (Author)
