THE STOPPING OF AEROPLANES ON LANDING (L' ARRET DES AVIONS A L' ATTERRISSAGE),

Abstract

The problem of aeroplanes stopping on landing can be dealt with from two different points of view: (a) performance: this is a question of stopping the aeroplane over a given distance with its own mechanism; (b) safety: should this appliance break down or prove inadequate, it is a question of having a safety device for stopping the aeroplane without damage to it or its occupants. This Report deals solely with the second problem, namely that of stop barriers. (Author)
