DETERMINATION OF RESISTANCE WELDABILITY OF TZM MOLYBDENUM ALLOY THIN SHEET,

Abstract

Two resistance-welded test strips of TZM molybdenum alloy (each containing several welds) were subjected to metallographic examination. Each weld was cross sectioned and prepared metallographically and photomicrographed at 50 magnifications. These limited tests show that resistance spot welds in TZM molybdenum alloy cannot be consistently made without frequent cracking occurring in and around the nugget. (Author)
