CLEAR AIR TURBULENCE,

Abstract

Frequency of occurrence, distribution, and the dynamic parameters most often considered in connection with clear air turbulence are examined. The rate of growth of turbulence is computed with hypothetical values of vertical shear, horizontal shear, and growth of turbulent energy with gravity waves assumed as primary sources of turbulent energy. A forecast scheme, as 7roposed in a referenced publication, is included. (Author)
