PROPOSED PHASE DIAGRAM FOR THE SYSTEM MAGNESIUM OXIDE - VANADIUM PENTOXIDE.

Abstract

The liquidus-solidus regions of the system MgOV2O5 were investigated over the entire composition range, with the following principal findings: There are two congruently melting compounds: 2MgO.V2O5 melting at 1128 C, and 3 MgO.V2O5 melting at 1210C. A thire compound, MgO.V2O5, is thought to have an incongruent melting point at 762C. There are three eutectics: one at approximately 15 mole-percent V2O5 melthing at 1192C, one at approximately 30 mole-percent V2O5 melting at 1122C, and one at approximately 75 mole-percent V2O5 melting at 658C.
