AN INTEGRATING AND A POLAR NEPHELOMETER FOR ATMOSPHERIC SCATTERING MEASUREMENTS IN THE ULTRAVIOLET,

Abstract

Integrating and polar nephelometers have been constructed for the measurement of atmospheric scattering as a function of wavelength and altitude. The instruments were designed particularly for the 3000 to 3800 Angstrom spectral region. Preliminary results are presented of field measurements undertaken in the vicinity of Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, covering altitudes from sea level to 11,000 ft. (Author)
