A TAXONOMY OF LEARNING TASK CHARACTERISTICS,

Abstract

The design of efficient training environments requires the selective uses of research findings from basic studies of learning. Decisions about the use of particular principles of learning are constantly required in the development of new training materials, systems, devices, and aids. Consequently, there is a critical need for a system of classifying learning tasks which will permit training specialists to make efficient use of principles of learning. This report is debigned to assist a training specialist in the design and development of effective training programs in support of Air Force positions. It presents a syscem for classifying learning tasks which was developed under this contract for the purpose indicated. The research and analytical procedures are summarized along with the findings produced by a tryout of the system with a group of training specialists. (Author)
