DEVELOPMENT OF AN ALTERNATING CURRENT PLASMA ACCELERATOR FOR APPLICATION AS AN ULTRA HIGH VELOCITY WIND TUNNEL.

Abstract

An electrodeless plasma accelerator is described for use in simulating re-entry environments. Principles of its operation and a technical description of its several parts are given. Descriptions are given of the gas injector, pre-ionizer, magnetic structure, and cooling devices. Only enough of the theory of the accelerator operation necessary to a general understanding of the machine is included. (Author)
