THE MAXIMALLY-FLAT DELAY FUNCTION OF LARGE ORDER,
Abstract
The maximally-flat time delay (or linear phas) transfer function is examined when the number of poles approaches infinity. The pole diagram is found to be closely approximated by an elliptical array of equi-vertically-spaced poles. The amplitude, time-delay, and transient responses are derived. The elements comprising the output and input ends of a lossless low-pass ladder realization are also derived. Data is given which enables one to find the properties that are associated with any number of poles, large or small, by a graphical interpolation between the known extremes. (Author)
