SPACE-TIME CORRELATION FUNCTION OF SURFACE GENERATED NOISE AND APPLICATION TO A HYDROPHONE ARRAY PROBLEM,

Abstract

The purposes of this report are: (1) to discuss the use of noise field space-time correlation functions in the design of hydrophone arrays; (2) to compute the space-time correlation function of the noise believed to exist in the deep ocean; and (3) to present examples of array designs with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and beam pattern comparisons.
