RESEARCH ON HYPERSONIC FLOW

Abstract

Research conducted during the period 15 December 1960 to 15 December 1963 is summarized. The theoretical and experimental investigations have been concerned with three aspects of hypersonic flow; namely, rarefied hypersonic flow about blunt axisymmetric bodies, about cylinders normal to and inclined to the free stream, and higher Reynolds number flows about pointed cones. Except for the experimental data obtained for high Reynolds number flows about pointed cones, all the research discussed in this summary report has been previously published or is in the process of publication.
