LARGE AMPLITUDE VIBRATION AND RESPONSE OF CURVED PANELS,

Abstract

The dynamic nonlinear shallow-shell equations are examined in the special case of a cylindrical shell segment. Different developments are given for two systems: in System A, the stress boundary conditions are satisfied exactly and compatibility is satisfied on the average; in System B, compatibility is satisfied exactly and the stress boundary conditions are satisfied on the average. Perturbation and exact integral expressions are found for the frequencies of vibration. The response to delta-function, step-function and harmonic-function loading is examined. Dynamic buckling is predicted by shock response method. (Author)
