PLANT UPTAKE OF RADIOELEMENTS FROM SOIL,

Abstract

This report presents a model for predicting food crop contamination by root uptake of radionuclides. The model was tested with existing data to obtain equation constants which would permit a solution for a hypothetical contaminating event. Values for many cropisotope combinations were estimated or assigned because of lack of data. The derived or estimated constants for important agricultural crops are summarized for computer input. Results of a nation-wide survey to obtain the exchangeable calcium content of the soil in each country of the United States are presented. (Author)
