RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM INTRINSIC RELIABILITY SUBMINIATURE CERAMIC CAPACITORS.

Abstract

One of the main aims of a large-scale life test now underway is the determination of whether a statistical relationship exists between pre-life test measurements and capacitor failure on life test. The test has a step-stress design, and the units are in three classes, each of which re ceived different processing. Results to date suggest a relationship between resistance at 150 C, before or after burn-in, and life time at lower temperatures. Work is continuing on a formula to express the life time of a capacitor. Preliminary study indicates an interruption of life test does not induce early failure upon resumption of the test. (Author)
