STRUCTURAL DAMPING OF OSCILLATIONS OF THIN-WALLED SHELLS OF TYPE OF HOUSING COMPONENTS OF GAS TURBINE ENGINES,

Abstract

Damping was investigated by means of the introduction into the structure of distributed external resistances with use of natural elements of the actual construction. Such a method may be called structural damping, whose main features are: (1) damping will be attained by means of external resistances appearing in compound elements of the construction during its oscillation; (2) damping of oscillations is realized by distributed (along surface of elements of construction) forces of resistances; and (3) for creation of damping effect, natural elements of the construction are used.
