ADVANCED FABRICATION PROCESSES FOR FUNCTIONAL ELECTRONIC BLOCKS.

Abstract

Physical phenomena and new circuit concepts are being investigated to extend the applicability of integrated circuits. A silicon adaptive element based on the induced channel field effect transistor is being investigated. Adaption is based on polarization of a dielectric film through application of bias and light. A reversible adaption effect was observed on several devices. Based on studies of digital filter characteristics, development of an IF filter is proposed. This filter will be evaluated initially in discrete component form. A video amplifier was fabricated using thermal feedback to eliminate dc components from the output signal. A design is available for the fabrication of a temperature stabilized substrate to be used with a dc amplifier. Critical components of the input stage will be mounted on this substrate to minimize drift. (Author)
