GENERAL RESEARCH. A COMPUTER PROGRAM TO DETERMINE PLASMA DENSITY FROM EXPERIMENTAL HYDROGEN SPECTRAL LINE SHAPES,

Abstract

This IBM 7090 program fits theoretical hydrogen line shapes to experimental line shapes in order to determine plasma density. The fitting process is discussed to illustrate the limitations of the program. Resolution of the optical system is included. Data input and output are considered in detail, and a specific computation by the program is presented. No familiarity with computers is required to use this program, although the aid of a programmer would be useful to insure that the input data are in the correct format. (Author)
