UTILIZATION OF CONFINING MAGNETIC FIELDS IN DUPLEXER APPLICATIONS,

Abstract

The feasibility of using a magnetic field to improve the high power performance of gas duplexing tubes is studied. Using available theory, the conditions for the prevention of electron and ion impact with the container walls are determined. One approach compares the sheath thickness and the Larmor radius of the eletron. Another approach studies the possibility of the reversal of the sheath potential in order to retard ion imfield in duplexing tubes has limitations. (Author)
