PROJECT FISHBOWL EFFECTS ON OMEGA VLF TRANSMISSIONS. PHASE AND AMPLITUDE EFFECTS DURING EVENTS STARFISH, BLUEGILL TRIPLE PRIME, AND KINGFISH

Abstract

The study reported was undertaken to measure the effects on the VLF carrier used by the Omega navigation system during Project FISHBOWL. The three events of the FISHBOWL Project under consideration here were designated STARFISH (9 July 1962), BLUEGILL Triple Prime (26 October), and KINGFISH (1 November 1962). The sections covering the various types of measurement include recordings from all three events and describe the instrumentation and procedures employed. In the descriptions of the tests no extensive analysis of the results is made. However, any faults of system operation, or known irregularities in the recordings, are mentioned or illustrated throughout the various sections, as appropriate.
