GRATIS - A MONTE CARLO COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR CALCULATING TRANSMISSION INFORMATION FOR SECONDARY GAMMA RADIATION,
Abstract
A computer program, designed to calculate gamma ray transmission information for primary and secondary gamma radiation, is described. The Monte Carlo method is used. The program considers a plane stratified slab of finite thickness and infinite lateral dimensions, consisting of eight slab layers. Each layer may be made of any material. Gamma ray transmission information may be calculated for: (1) neutron induced gamma rays distributed within a slab, (2) plane isotropic gamma ray source located outside of a slab, (3) a plane isotropic gamma ray source located outside of a slab plus neutron induced gamma rays distributed in the slab, (4) monodirectional beams of gamma rays, and (5) bremsstrahlung originating within the slab.
