MEASUREMENTS OF FLUCTUATING 'STATIC' AND TOTALHEAD PRESSURE IN A TURBULENT WAKE,

Abstract

The spectra of the fluctuating static and totalhead pressures were measured in the turbulent wake behind a cylinder, at subsonic velocities and Reynolds number from 10,000 to 100,000, based on cylinder diameter. The spectra of the pressure are of the same form as the spectra of the longitudinal velocity fluctuations. The observed spectral magnitudes are compared with theoretical estimates. Possible sources of error in the fluctuating pressure measurements are evaluated. (Author)
