EXPLOSIVE COMPONENT TEST ADAPTOR FOR DROP SHOCK TESTER MK 7 MOD 0,

Abstract

An experimental explosive component shock tester capable of producing steel-on-steel impacts in the range of 100,000 g is described. The machine is a modified Mk 7 Mod 0 Drop Shock Tester. The report contains adaptor installation and machine operation instructions and presents information on the performance of the Mk 7 and the NOL 40Foot Guided Drop Tester, also used for explosive component testing. Both testers were found to have poor shock repeatability. The report includes suggestions for improving present explosive component testing and for monitoring shocks in the 100,000-g range. (Author)
