RECENT STUDIES IN BOUNDARY LAYER TRANSITION,

Abstract

Experimental effects of controlled surface roughness and freestream turbulence on boundary layer transition are described and theoretical correlations of the data presented. Recent results on the transition of boundary layers in non-Newtonian fluids are also discussed. It is found that a small increase in fluid plasticity strongly delays transition. (Author)
