A USE OF DIGITAL COMPUTERS FOR ALGEBRAIC COMPUTATION.

Abstract

Development studies were conducted to establish digital computer programs to accomplish two specific tasks: develop a program which can derive equations of motion of systems in general terms (that is, in non-numeric terms); develop a program which will determine the relationship between the coefficients of a differential equation which define the conditions necessary for periodic solutions. This report also presents the mathematics of the methods, the digital computer programs (and instructions on how to use them), and examples illustrating applications of the programs. (Author)
