OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES - A COMPARISON,
Abstract
A single-axis satellite attitude control system is used as an example for the application of several optimization techniques. The vehicle and actuator dynamics are linear and the performance criterion is quadratic (related to minimumenergy control). The techniques used are the classical calculus of variations, the maximum principle, dynamic programming, and steepest descent. (Author)
