RESEARCH IN CONTINUOUS TONE ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY.

Abstract

This is a final report on a research study made to determine the feasibility of extending the continuous tone range of prints made by electrophotography. A pilot scale zinc oxide furnance is described and construction details are presented. Of the zinc oxide samples made, several are doped with copper, gallium, arsenic or phosphorous. Experimental procedures are described for the production of dry toners and liquid developers. Variables responsible for tonal quality are evaluated on the basis of choice or raw materials and influence of surfactants on the electrophoretic charge on the developer particles. (Author)
