AEROSPACE ENVIRONMENT SIMULATOR.

Abstract

A critical requirement exists for a special Aerospace Environment Simulator, complementary to other USAF test and research facilities, for studying problems of personal protection in the vacuum and thermal radiation environments of space; for indoctrination and training of astronauts in personal protective equipment, and for biomedical and ecological research related to survival of man outside the atmosphere of the earth. Existing physiological altitude test chambers, large aerospace systems environmental chambers, and balloon and orbiting laboratories are either inadequate for this purpose or too hazardous and uneconomical. This report presents a proposal for a relatively small, versatile Aerospace Environment Simulator designed to meet the specific requirement of aerospace medicine. (Author)
