DISTRIBUTION OF LOSSES IN LONGITUDINALLY EXCITED VIBRATORS,

Abstract

A study of the loss distribution in longitudinally excited vibrators was made for application to transducer design. The relative importance of losses related to longitudinal and shearing strains, the surface, and impedance transforma tions has been made. The experimental methods are described and analytical methods for the prediction of losses in various geometeries is given. The losses at changes in cross-section of a vibrator are found to behave in a predictable manner. (Author)
