METHOD FOR INCREASED DATA RATE IN TRANSMISSION OVER TIME-VARYING MULTIPLE PATHS,

Abstract

The bandwith and data rate of communication over multiple paths (such as tropospheric scatter) are limited by time spread. If the characteristics of the transmission channel vary slowly, they can be probed by a pilot signal ad corrected. The proposed method transmits evenly spaced pilot pulses that are separated from the messages by isolation gaps, and corrects the path distortion by analyzing the complex frequency characteristic of the received pilot pulses. An increase in data rate of the received pilot pulses. An increase in data rate of from 10 to the 5th power to 3. 1000,000 to 3.10 million per second appears feasible under some conditions. (Author)
