SOLUTIONS OF THE THOMAS-FERMI-DIRAC STATISTICAL MODEL OF ATOMS,

Abstract

Numerical integration of the Thomas-Fermi-Dirac equation on the IBM 701 has been carried out for atomic numbers Z = 1 to 100. Compressed, expanded and isolated atoms were treated, the latter using the boundary condition suggested by Jensen. Tables of the solutions are given for all isolated atoms and for selected values of Zin the case of compressed and expanded atoms. The physical properties of interest for isolated atoms and the pressure-volume relationship for compressed and expanded atoms are presented tabularly. Other physical properties are presented graphically. (Author)
