VERTEX REDUCTION NETWORK ANALYSIS,

Abstract

The problem of topological network analysis is discussed, and various methods of tree generation summarized. It is concluded that no totally satisfactory method is available to generate the trees of a graph. The 'pliars entry' and generalized star mesh transformations are then introduced and a method to reduce any multi-port passive network to a three terminal representation is described. The concepts thus developed are extended to include active networks whose currents have unique solutions. Finally, the applications of the reduction techniques to digital computer solutions are considered, and several related problems are introduced. (Author)
