THE LOGIC DESIGN OF ADAM, A PROBLEM-ORIENTED SYMBOL PROCESSOR.

Abstract

This report presents a general description of the language and a detailed design of a machine organization having the following characteristics: complete symbolic addressing on variable field length data; list and string operations; high to low order numeric processing; dynamic storage allocation; and automatic input/output. The design is described in terms of the algorithms used to implement the machine function or in the logic itself where the former approach was not appropriate. A programming manual is presented as Appendix I. The logical design of the complete system is contained in Appendix II. (Author)
