ELECTRON TUBES RADIATION RESISTANT PILOT LINE PRODUCTION.

Abstract

Efforts were continued on a program to establish a pilot line production capability for producing nuclear radiation-resistant electron tube types 6080WB, 6360, 5886 and 6205. Improvements were made to the stem-making and glass-sealing equipment, as well as to the stem-forming molds. The techniques and processes pertaining to both these operations were modified in line with the indicated direction of higher yield and lower shrinkage. Work has proceeded with the design and construction of equipment essential to Phase II such as: the high temperature, dual vacuum exhaust station; the 500 C. life test kit; power preheaters, static characteristics sets, aging racks, and a voltage gain test set; and modification to the pinch press type sealing machine for the 5886 tube.
