DEVELOPMENT OF VERY HIGH STRENGTH BERYLLIUM WIRE.

Abstract

Work directed toward development of a process to produce high-strength beryllium fine wire is described. The extrusion data for -10 + 1 (IP) and 0.4% Fe alloy are listed along with the known chemistry of the -10 + 1 (IP) material. Warm drawing results of the -74 + 1, -20 +1, -10 + 1, and -5 + 1 materials are discussed. Future plans include continued conversion of the extruded stock and evaluation of the drawn wire. (Author)
