CONSTITUTIVE EQUATIONS OF VISCOELASTIC SOLIDS UNDER FINITE DEFORMATION,

Abstract

The constitutive equations of reference 1 are discussed. Subsequently to establish a similarity between the short-time elastic response and the long-time equalibrium stress for materials with fading memory, certain approximations are proposed. A number of boundary-value problems under prescribed static finite strain and small dynamic strains superposed on prestressed solids are solved. Existing experimental data compared with these solutions appear to favor the proposed approximations. (Author)
