AERIAL MAPPING OF SURFACE TEMPERATURE PATTERN OF LAKE MICHIGAN,

Abstract

A surface temperature mapping survey of Lake Michigan by aerial sensing technique is discussed. A thermistor bolometer sensitive to radiation in the 8 to 13 micron band is used. By comparing the radiation received from the water surface with the radiation from a thermostatically controlled, constant temperature, black-body reference cavity, the bolometer produces a signal which is proportional to the temperature of the water surface.
