AN EVALUATION OF RESINOUS SURFACING FOR PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE PAVEMENTS,

Abstract

The advantage unique resinous paving compounds which are employed with suitable aggregates to form resinous overlays can be exploited to produce resultant pavement surfaces having outstanding characteristics. While the aggregates are used to provide the surface course for highly skid resistant, durable, and permanent wearing overlays, the resinous materials alone contribute the majority of the desirable surface characteristics. The epoxy resin paving compounds offer permanent adhesion to the existing pavements, are completely impervious to de-icing salts, fuels, and many other solvents, protect the pavement from the damaging effects of freezing and thawing, provide an extremely durable and adhesive base for skid resistant surfacing, and do not flow or bleed at elevated temperatures.
