EVALUATION OF COATINGS FOR IMPARTING OIL RESISTANCE TO EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE,

Abstract

Expanded polystyrene is adversely affected by standard preservative oils. Protective coatings to prevent such attack have been investigated and a latex type has found to achieve the desired results. Only latex coatings are usable for this application since solvents used in nonlatex coatings will attack the polystyrene surface. Test procedure is described and results are discussed. (Author)
