EQUATIONS OF MOTION OF A RIGID PROJECTILE

Abstract

The basic vector equations of motion of a rigid body are described, and an aerodynamic force moment system is developed. The vector forces and moments due to gravity and rotation of the earth are added to the system. Forces and moments produced by a rocket motor are included, and the resulting vector differential equations of motion of a symmetric rigid projectile are derived. An appendix is added, which describes a set of initial conditions imposed on pertinent parameters for rigid body trajectory simulation.
