CENTRAL-FORCE LAWS FOR AN ELLIPTIC ORBIT,

Abstract

It is the purpose of this analysis to illustrate the influence of the location of the origin of a central force upon force laws which yield the same elliptic trajectory. In this study the origin of the force is displaced in discrete steps from the center of the ellipse to the apex along the major semi-axis. The vector of a central force F is, by definition, everywhere directed toward the same center such that FXr=0, where r is the position vector of the particle. (Author)
