CONTINUOUS ZONE-REFINING APPARATUS,

Abstract

A continuous zone-refining system is described wherein matter transport is used as a means of producing material flow in one of the two sections of the system. This system provides more rigid control of operational parameters by increasing the planarity of solid-liquid interfaces and the reproducibility of the product flow per pass. Use of the matter transport phenomenon increases the flexibility of design of a zone-re fining system which can result in increased purity of the product. Equations describing the system are reported. (Author)
