INVESTIGATION OF THE MECHANISMS OF DECOMPOSITION, COMBUSTION, AND DETONATION OF SOLIDS

Abstract

The over-all stoichiometries of the ammoniaoxygen and ammonia- chlorine flame reactions were deduced from mass spectrographic analyses of the gaseous reaction products and from reaction parameters for the opposed-jet diffusion flame. The volumetric reaction rate and heat release rate for this reaction are 7.35 and 25,200 cal/cu cm.sec, respectively. The volumetric rate of reaction for this equation is 3.67 g/cu cm.-sec, which corresponds to a volumetric heat release rate equal to 9,920 cal/cu cm.-sec.
