RAPID, A SYSTEM FOR RETRIEVAL THROUGH AUTOMATED PUBLICATION AND INFORMATION DIGEST

Abstract

This paper describes a conceptual model for an advanced information system that can improve dissemination without increasing storage problems. Referred to as RAPID (Retrieval through Automated Publication and Information Digest), the concept comprises a coordinated, semiautomated dissemination and retrieval system built around a special science newspaper. The RAPID concept is described in terms of its applicability to a technical and management community of broad subject base, large size, and geographic dispersion. A comprehensive, but preliminary, system diagram is provided.
